NVW2021: MACDONALD WINS LISA HALEY AWARD

As part of 2021 National Volunteer Week, we are celebrating great coaches who received awards from Hockey Nova Scotia this season.
In October, Hockey Nova Scotia's Female Council was proud to award the Lisa Haley Female Hockey Coach of the Month Award to Quad County U18 AA coach Darren MacDonald.
MacDonald is an important member of the eastern Nova Scotia hockey community and the countless hours he spends at the rink each week, as well as his dedication to the game, are greatly appreciated by the players he coaches. The Port Hood native provides the opportunity for girls in the Quad County area to play hockey in a safe, supportive and positive environment. A respected leader in the game, MacDonald ensures that his players always enjoy their time on the ice, no matter the outcome of their game.
Like Lisa Haley, Darren MacDonald always does his part to give back to the game he loves.
Through his contributions to his team and hockey community both on and off the ice, MacDonald is a deserving recipient of this award.
The award is named after Lisa Haley, a Westville native and respected female hockey coach who won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. It is awarded to exceptional teachers of the game who have helped to make our sport better.
Hockey Nova Scotia and the Hockey Nova Scotia Female Council would like to congratulate Darren MacDonald on his award and thank him for his volunteer efforts this season.
