Growing the game at the grassroots level

Grassroots hockey is at the core of everything we do at Hockey Nova Scotia and we believe that everyone has the right to have access to the great game of hockey.

With that in mind, we have worked with community groups and organizations to develop a number of grassroots programs that help get players from underrepresented communities on the ice so that they can experience our game.

These include:

  • A program for blind and visually impaired athletes
  • A program for newcomers to Canada
  • A program for young African Nova Scotian athletes

A major principle of our programming will be to always focus on WHY we play sports. By developing programs that are meaningful and accessible, we will create spaces that will make the game fun and welcoming for everyone.

Where do I play?
