TURNBULL, MACKINNON AND NEARY RECOGNIZED AT 2026 SUPPORT4SPORT AWARDS

Saturday night was a memorable one for hockey in Nova Scotia, as three of the province’s Olympic representatives were recognized with top honours at the 2026 Support4Sport Awards at the Halifax Convention Centre.

From Olympic podiums to international officiating assignments, Nova Scotia’s hockey community was proudly represented on one of the province’s biggest nights in sport.

Blayre Turnbull Named Senior Female Athlete of the Year

Blayre Turnbull continued to cement her place among Nova Scotia’s hockey greats after being named Senior Female Athlete of the Year.

The Stellarton native captured a silver medal with Team Canada at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, becoming a three-time Olympic medallist. As the lone Nova Scotian on Canada’s roster and a member of the team leadership group, Turnbull recorded a goal and an assist in seven games while helping lead Canada to another Olympic podium finish.

Currently starring with the Toronto Sceptres, Turnbull remains a trailblazer for women’s hockey in Nova Scotia and across the country.

Nathan MacKinnon Earns Senior Male Athlete of the Year Honours

Nathan MacKinnon was recognized as Senior Male Athlete of the Year following another incredible season on the international stage.

The Cole Harbour superstar made his long-awaited Olympic debut at Milano-Cortina 2026, tallying four goals and three assists in six games to help Canada advance to the gold medal game.

Already the owner of a Hart Trophy, Stanley Cup championship, and 4 Nations Face-Off MVP honours, MacKinnon added yet another accolade to his impressive resume with Saturday night’s recognition.

Shauna Neary Recognized as Official of the Year

Shauna Neary received the Official of the Year award after a remarkable season that included one of the highest honours in international officiating.

The Antigonish native was selected as one of just 10 officials chosen to work the women’s hockey tournament at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

Neary brings more than 15 years of experience officiating at the professional, university, and junior levels, including assignments in the PWHL, AUS, Maritime Junior A Hockey League, and Nova Scotia Junior B ranks.

Away from the international spotlight, Neary continues to make an impact at the grassroots level, spending her weekends coaching a U9 team in Halifax while inspiring the next generation of players and officials.

Congratulations to Blayre, Nathan, and Shauna on these well-deserved honours. Nova Scotia is incredibly proud of all three representatives and the impact they continue to make both on and off the ice.
