TRAINER LISA MCCARTHY WINS JED RITCEY AWARD

We are pleased to announce that Halifax Western Capitals trainer Lisa McCarthy is the recipient of the 2022 Jed Ritcey Award.

The Jed Ritcey Award is named in honour of former Hockey Nova Scotia president Jed Ritcey and recognizes the hockey volunteer of the year in Nova Scotia.

A veteran of the Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Program, Lisa is well-known on her Capitals team for being prepared and ready to help whenever she is called upon.

In March, Lisa was forced into action when Rylee Bennett, a forward with the Capitals, was seriously injured on the ice. Lisa immediately made her way on to the injured player’s side, leaning heavily on her medical background during a stressful time for Rylee’s teammates, family and friends.

Compassionate and professional, Lisa handled the situation with a level of expertise, care and concern that will be remembered forever by all of those present at the rink that day.

For everything she did that day and for all she has done throughout the season, Lisa is a very deserving recipient of this recognition.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate Lisa McCarthy on winning the Jed Ritcey Award and thank her for everything she does for the game.
