A pair of Nova Scotians will spend early August vying for the chance to wear the Maple Leaf.

Antigonish's Rhyah Stewart and Wolfville's Avi Adam have been named to the 40-player roster for Canada's National Women's Development Team selection camp, presented by BFL CANADA, running Aug. 3-8 at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, B.C.

Stewart, one of only four goaltenders invited to camp, is coming off a season to remember with the University of Wisconsin. She helped lead the Badgers to an NCAA national championship this past season.

Adam, a forward who spent last season with Cornell University, arrives at camp with a Team Canada resume already in hand: she won gold at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship and silver at the 2024 Women's Euro Hockey Tour. Earlier this summer, she added another milestone when she was drafted by the PWHL's Montreal Victoire.

The camp features on- and off-ice training and three Black-Gold games from Aug. 5-8, with the final roster selected Aug. 9. The team, led by head coach and Team Canada veteran Vicky Sunohara, will then face the United States in a three-game series Aug. 12-15 in Richmond.
