QUINN WINS OCTOBER BERNIE LAWLOR AWARD

In October, Hockey Nova Scotia's Minor Council was pleased to award the Bernie Lawlor Memorial Coach of the Month Award to TASA Minor Hockey Association U13 AAA coach Matt Quinn.

Matt’s extensive hockey background as both a coach and player, leadership abilities, and commitment to player development make him a great candidate for this recognition.

For the past seven years, Matt has been an integral member of the TASA minor hockey community. This season, Matt took on the role of head coach of the TASA U13 AAA team, helping them a competitive presence in the provincial league.

Matt's coaching philosophy is centred on player development, as he continuously offers constructive feedback to help players achieve their full potential. He promotes a team-first approach, fostering unity and collaboration to achieve shared goals. Under his leadership, success is not solely measured by victories, but by the progress and growth of each player and the team as a whole. He sets high standards for respect, sportsmanship, and positive behaviour.

Matt’s unwavering commitment to the personal and athletic growth of his players embodies the true spirit of the Bernie Lawlor Award. His ability to mentor young athletes and inspire them to excel while emphasizing character development sets him apart as a coach and role model.

The Bernie Lawlor Memorial Coach of the Month Award is named after the late Bernie Lawlor. Lawlor was a long-serving member of the Hockey Nova Scotia Minor Council and dedicated hockey volunteer. The award was introduced in 2018 and is presented to exceptional teachers of the game who have helped make the sport better.

Hockey Nova Scotia and the Hockey Nova Scotia Minor Council would like to congratulate Matt on his award and thank him for his volunteer efforts this season.
