QUAD COUNTY APPROVED AS NEWEST FEMALE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

DARTMOUTH – Hockey Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the establishment of a new female hockey association.
The Quad County Whitecaps Female Hockey Association is Hockey Nova Scotia’s newest female hockey-focused member association.
“This is an exciting day for hockey in our province and we couldn’t be more pleased to formally welcome the Quad County Whitecaps to the Hockey Nova Scotia family,” said Stephen Murray, Hockey Nova Scotia’s Female Council Chair.
The Quad County Whitecaps Female Hockey Association will welcome girls from within the borders of the Strait-Richmond Minor Hockey Association, Antigonish Minor Hockey Association, Canso Minor Hockey Association, and the Cape Breton West Minor Hockey Association.
“This change allows this new female hockey associations to concentrate exclusively on the growth and development of girls' hockey in the Quad County region,” Murray said.
In March of 2017, the Metro West Force Female Hockey Association became the province’s first member association solely responsible for the administration of female hockey. In 2018, the Metro East Inferno FHA and the Valley Wild FHA were also approved. Then, in 2020, the Cape Breton Blizzard Female Hockey Association and the Fundy Highland Female Hockey Association became the fourth and fifth member associations.
The establishment of this new female hockey association is the latest step taken by Hockey Nova Scotia and the Hockey Nova Scotia Female Council to improve the administration of girls’ hockey in the province.
In 2015, Hockey Nova Scotia’s Female Council regionalized the female game by creating new executive committees in geographical zones across Nova Scotia.
“We know it is a step in the right direction for the promotion, growth and development of our girls’ hockey in the province,” Murray said.
Hockey Nova Scotia would like to welcome the Quad County Whitecaps Female Hockey Association to the branch. We look forward to working with our newest member association to grow the female game across our province.
