PIRATES WIN FRED FOX AWARD

Hockey Nova Scotia is proud to announce the Strait Pirates U18 AA as the recipients of the 2025 Fred Fox Award, presented annually to a registered male hockey team that has demonstrated excellence throughout the season both on and off the ice.
The Pirates enjoyed a highly successful 2024-25 campaign, finishing the regular season at the top of the Cape Breton Hockey Federation standing. Their stellar play continued into the playoffs, where they went a perfect 5-0 to capture the Cape Breton Cup championship.
The team’s success extended beyond league play. The Pirates captured two additional tournament championships this season and earned a silver medal finish in another. Their season culminated with a trip to provincials held from April 3-6, where they proudly represented their association.
Off the ice, the Strait Pirates distinguished themselves as leaders in their community and role models within their association. Their sportsmanship was noted by opponents and spectators alike throughout the season. Many players also dedicated their time to supporting younger age groups, stepping onto the ice to help at practices and offering guidance to developing players.
The 2025 Fred Fox Award recognizes more than just wins and championships—it celebrates character, leadership, and dedication to the game. The Strait Pirates U18 AA team is deserving of this recognition.
On behalf of everyone at Hockey Nova Scotia, congratulations to the Strait Pirates U18 AA on being named our 2025 Male Team of the Year.
