NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR HIGHLAND REGIONAL DIRECTOR

Hockey Nova Scotia is now accepting applications for the position of Minor Council Regional Director for the Highland Region for the upcoming season. This volunteer role plays an essential part in the delivery and support of minor hockey across our province.

This vacancy has opened following Mitch MacGregor's recent appointment as North Conference Coordinator with Minor Council, and we thank Mitch for his service to the Highland Region.

The Highland Region includes the Antigonish Minor Hockey Association, Canso Minor Hockey Association, and Pictou County Minor Hockey Association. The term for the successful candidate will be one season.

About the Role

The Regional Director serves as a key liaison between the Minor Council and local Minor Hockey Associations. They play a critical role in maintaining structure, promoting fair play, and supporting the development of minor hockey in their region.

Responsibilities include:

* Supporting day-to-day operations within the Highland Region.
* Organizing regional meetings and coordinating championship playoffs.
* Supporting and facilitating provincial tournament participation.
* Approving team transfers, travel permits, and player movement.
* Assisting in dispute resolution between MHAs in the region.
* Ensuring compliance with Hockey Nova Scotia rules and standards.
* Collaborating on discipline investigations with the Suspension Coordinator and Risk Management Committee.
* Attending Minor Council meetings (typically one per month between August and May)
