NORTHERN SUBWAY SELECTS WIN 2022 RON CONRAD AWARD

Hockey Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that the Northern Subway Selects are the recipients of the 2022 Ron Conrad Award as our female team of the year.

This season, the Pictou County-based Selects enjoyed an historic year, representing Nova Scotia and the Atlantic region on the national stage.

After posting an incredible 22-2 record during the regular season, the Selects swept the Halifax Western Capitals and the Bussey Auto Brokers Penguins to capture the provincial championship.

Those victories earned the Selects the right to represent the province at Atlantics in Tyne Valley, PEI.

Led by their strong leadership core and a great defensive structure, the Selects were undefeated during the round robin, outscoring their opponents 36-2. In the championship final, the Nova Scotia champs defeated New Brunswick's EDZA West Reds 2-1.

From there, the Selects advanced to the Esso Cup in Okotoks, Alta. where they represented the region in the national championship. After going 2-1-2 during round robin play, the Selects advanced all the way to the semifinals where they lost 4-0 to the eventual national champs from Durham, Ont.

The loss ended an incredible run for one of the strongest teams to ever come out of Nova Scotia.

On behalf of everyone at Hockey Nova Scotia, we would like to congratulate the Northern Subway Selects on a historic hockey season and congratulate them for winning this year's Ron Conrad Award.
