NEARY WINS 2022 HAL LEWIS AWARD

Hockey Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that Antigonish's Shauna Neary is the recipient of our 2022 Hal Lewis Award.
Named in honour of former Hockey Nova Scotia volunteer Hal Lewis, the award recognizes our province's official of the year.
An experienced National High Performance-level referee and U Sports official, Shauna has always been willing and eager to give back to our officiating program in any way that she can.
A former assistant coach with both the Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Program and the Dalhousie University Tigers women’s hockey team, Shauna has on-ice experience at some of the highest levels of the game. At the grassroots level, she is a role model and officiating leader who has given up her time as the referee-in-chief for the Metro West Force Female Hockey Association.
This past season, the Antigonish native received some prestigious officiating assignments as she was chosen to officiate at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship in Calgary, Alta., as well as during the Rivalry Series between the Canadian and American national women’s teams in Kingston, Ont.
During the U Sports Women’s Hockey Championship in Charlottetown, PEI, Shauna was also selected as a referee during the gold medal final.
A dedicated volunteer and knowledgable referee, Shauna is a vital member of the province’s officiating community.
On behalf of everyone at Hockey Nova Scotia, we would like to congratulate Shauna Neary on receiving our 2022 Hal Lewis Award.
