MIKE FIELD APPOINTED NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF HOCKEY NOVA SCOTIA

Hockey Nova Scotia is very pleased to announce that Mike Field has been appointed as the branch’s new executive director.

In February, the Hockey Nova Scotia board of directors began an extensive search to hire a new executive director after Amy Walsh joined the Future of Hockey Lab on a full-time basis. After a thorough process, Field was chosen to lead the organization.

The Truro, N.S. native has more than two decades of experience in hockey governance in Nova Scotia and has been serving as the branch’s interim executive director since December 2022. Field previously held the position of interim executive director in 2004 and 2018.

“Mike Field is an experienced hockey leader who has gained the trust and confidence of not only the board of directors, but of our membership at every level across the province,” said Arnie Farrell, president of Hockey Nova Scotia.

“Mike has a tremendous work ethic and a values-based approach to leadership. He always strives to ensure that the best interests of our players are put first. We could not be more pleased to have him leading the way at Hockey Nova Scotia.”

A former member of the Acadia Axemen men’s hockey team and a graduate of Acadia University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Field joined Hockey Nova Scotia as Member Services Coordinator in January 2002 and was later promoted to Member Services Manager in 2008.

“This is a very exciting day and I am thrilled to take on this new challenge,” Field said.

“I look forward to working with the board of directors, the Hockey Nova Scotia office staff and our members to find new way to make hockey more accessible, safe and fun for all participants to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to experience the sport I love.”

For more than two decades, Field has brought stability and leadership to the branch office. A respected voice in the province’s hockey community, Field has gained a reputation for his professionalism and dependability with league administrators, association executives, coaches, officials, and players alike. Over the years, he has built strong and lasting relationships with our vast network of hockey associations and volunteers. His commitment to leading, developing, and promoting positive hockey experiences for all players is evident to anyone who works with him.

Please join us in welcoming Mike Field as the new executive director of Hockey Nova Scotia.
