JIM "FRED" HEAD RECEIVES HOCKEY NOVA SCOTIA AWARD OF MERIT

Hockey Nova Scotia is proud to announce that Jim “Fred” Head is the winner of our 2021 Hockey Nova Scotia Award of Merit.

The Hockey Nova Scotia Award of Merit is presented annually to an individual who has served hockey faithfully and made a significant contribution to the game.

That description aptly describes Fred and what he has meant to both the game and his players.

Since 1983, Fred has been a hockey volunteer in the New Waterford area, generously sharing his time and knowledge with players and hockey families.

Over the past three decades, he has held a variety of roles in his community. From coaching multiple teams to offering up his free time as an executive member with the New Waterford Minor Hockey Association (including a two-year term as president), Fred has always tried to give back to the game he loves. He has coached at ever level of the sport from from U9 to Junior B and has also served as president of the Cape Breton AAA league for several years.

Over the past four seasons, Fred has led the Nova Scotia U16 AAA Hockey League’s Cape Breton Jets as head coach.

Throughout all of his years of volunteering, Fred has always said the players are his number one priority and he has always done all that he can to ensure they have enjoyed every moment of their hockey journeys.

On behalf of everyone at Hockey Nova Scotia, we would like to congratulate Jim "Fred" Head on receiving our 2021 Hockey Nova Scotia Award of Merit.
