Hey coaches! The 2025 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) High Performance 1 (HP1) Clinic is coming to Halifax this spring. 

This HP1 seminar, held every two to three years in Atlantic Canada, is designed for coaches looking to enhance their knowledge and expertise in competitive hockey.

Program Overview

The HP1 Seminar will be delivered in three parts:

* May 21: Virtual orientation & group session (7:00-8:30 PM)
* May 23-25: HP1 National Virtual Weekend (schedule to be announced)
* May or June (TBD): Virtual multi-sport modules
* June 20-22: In-person seminar at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, NS (Friday evening, full-day Saturday & Sunday)

To complete certification, participants must also successfully complete a written assignment within one year of the seminar.

Eligibility Criteria

This program is designed for experienced coaches currently coaching at the U13 AAA level or higher. Applicants must have a minimum of three years of coaching experience at the U13/U15 level or higher. Special considerations may apply for certain cases. Coaches must be actively coaching at the U13 AAA level or above in the upcoming season to complete the field evaluation.

Selection is competitive, with only 40 candidates accepted. Consideration will be given to:

* Prior NCCP education and certification
* Ethical coaching history and athlete development experience
* Contributions to Hockey Canada in leadership roles (instructor, mentor, facilitator, etc.)

Registration & Costs

Fee: $1,250 (includes seminar materials, evaluations, grading, apparel, and meals during in-person sessions)
Travel & accommodations: Coaches are responsible for their own travel and lodging. A preferred rate is available at Saint Mary’s University dorms.
