HOCKEY NOVA SCOTIA WELCOMES ERICA PORTER TO TEAM

Hockey Nova Scotia is proud to announce the hiring of Erica Porter as our new High Performance Female Coach. Erica will be responsible for leading the development and planning of all female high performance on-ice curriculum for camps and events. She will also support Hockey Nova Scotia’s Female Council in growing and developing girls’ hockey throughout the province.
A former captain with the Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team, Erica has been an assistant coach with that program since 2020. During her time at Concordia, she was a Senior Student Recruitment Officer. While playing at Concordia, she made her coaching debut with the school’s Little Stingers hockey camp, a program she later led.
After graduating from Concordia with her MSc: Exercise Science, Erica was the Athletic Director at Champlain Regional College in Sherbrooke, Que., as well as an assistant coach with the school’s women’s hockey team.
"Erica brings a great hockey resume and a passion for the game to Hockey Nova Scotia," said Mike Field, Hockey Nova Scotia’s executive director. "She is an accomplished player and coach who has been an enthusiastic on-ice leader at the grassroots level. We’re very excited to have her joining our team."
Erica takes over the role from Kori Cheverie who has left Hockey Nova Scotia to join the Montreal franchise as head coach in the new Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL).
As the Hockey High Performance Female Coach, Erica will also lead a training program in partnership with Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic, aimed at targeted high performance athletes. She will establish and implement a female coaching program designed to promote opportunities for female coaches at U15 and U18 elite female levels, and also serve in an advisory role with Hockey Nova Scotia Female Council.
