GRANT RECEIVES 2023 CLARY MACDONALD AWARD

Hockey Nova Scotia announced today that Donnie Grant, head coach of the Antigonish AA Munro Jr. B Bulldogs, is the recipient of the 2023 Clary MacDonald Award. This award, named in honour of the late Clary MacDonald, a dedicated hockey volunteer, recognizes our branch's coach of the year.

Donnie Grant, hailing from a family deeply rooted in hockey, brings a wealth of experience and success to his coaching role. Having excelled in the game during his playing days, Donnie has transitioned his skills and knowledge to mentor local junior players in the Antigonish area. With several successful years of coaching under his belt, including back-to-back Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Fred Fox Division championships, Donnie has made a significant impact on the Bulldogs program.

In a town where junior hockey has a storied history, Donnie led the team to their first Don Johnson Memorial Cup championship since 1984. Donnie's dedication to player development and his ability to connect with each player sets him apart.

Donnie Grant's tireless efforts extend beyond the rink, as he continually strives to enhance the Bulldog experience for his players. His unwavering commitment to the program, combined with his genuine care for his players' well-being, is evident in their achievements on and off the ice. The respect Donnie commands from his players and his peers is well-earned. A natural leader, Donnie leads with ease on the bench and team looks to him as a role model, consistently giving their best effort.

On behalf of everyone Hockey Nova Scotia, we would like to congratulate Donnie Grant on being awarded the 2023 Clary MacDonald Award.
