DR. LEISHA HAWKER APPOINTED NEW CMO

Hockey Nova Scotia is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Leisha Hawker as our new Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Hawker is a family physician with certified added competence in addiction medicine practising in Halifax. She co-founded the Newcomer Health Clinic, and works at the North End Community Health Centre. In 2015, she was named one of the Medical Post's Top 20 Physicians to Watch. She is the immediate past president of Doctors Nova Scotia and currently serves on the board of the Nova Scotia College of Family Physicians and on the board of the Healthy Tomorrow Foundation.
While attending the University of New Brunswick, Dr. Hawker played with Varsity Reds women’s hockey team. She currently plays in the Nova Scotia Women’s Hockey League, and also enjoys volunteering as a coach for her daughter’s Timbits team.
Dr. Hawker takes over the position previously held by Dr. Tina Atkinson. Atkinson, who served as Chief Medical Officer since 2020, left her volunteer role with Hockey Nova Scotia to join the Professional Women's Hockey League as the new Chief Medical Officer in November 2023.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Hawker to our Hockey Nova Scotia family.
