ALLAN AFFLECK RECEIVES 2021 HAL LEWIS AWARD

Hockey Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that the Pictou County Minor Hockey Association's Allan Affleck is the recipient of our 2021 Hal Lewis Award.
Named in honour of former Hockey Nova Scotia volunteer Hal Lewis, the award recognizes our province's official of the year.
This year’s Hal Lewis Award recipient is truly a hockey lifer.
Allan’s officiating journey began 45 years ago when he was just 16-years old. Since those early days when he first donned the stripes, he has enjoyed plenty of highlights on the ice and has suited up in more than 4000 games at every level from minor hockey to university and senior. Along the way, he has taken part in several national and international events like the Allan Cup, the Canada Winter Games, and the IIHF Asian Oceanic U18 Championships.
His career as an RCMP officer has brought him to different communities throughout the Maritimes. On each stop, the talented Level 6 official and clinic instructor quickly became a fixture in the local officiating community. Since 2006, Allan has been heavily involved in the Pictou County Minor Hockey Association, helping wherever he is needed.
While posted in Sherbrooke, N.S. in the 1990s, he took a lead role in planning and fundraising for the St Mary's Rec Plex, an arena that has helped many local players discover and fall in love with the game.
Throughout his officiating career, Allan has always been a role model and teacher to the young officials who look up to him.
On behalf of everyone at Hockey Nova Scotia, we would like to congratulate Allan Affleck on receiving our 2021 Hal Lewis Award.
