About Hockey Nova Scotia Female Council:

In 2014, Hockey Nova Scotia embarked on a collaborative process to enhance the administration of female hockey in the province. After consulting with stakeholders and receiving feedback from grassroots organizations throughout Nova Scotia, six female hockey zones were established.  Executive committees were then formed in each zone/region to administer the female game, granting them autonomy to oversee operations within their boundaries.

These modifications to the Female Hockey framework and governance model were approved by the Hockey Nova Scotia Board of Director and were then adopted at the 2015 Hockey Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting. The goal of the executive committees was to streamline the administration of female hockey and facilitate the formation of female hockey associations within their regions.

In 2018 an additional zone was added to accommodate geographic challenges.

In the spring of 2023, the final Female Hockey Association was approved.

We look forward to assisting and working with the seven member FHAs as we continue to grow the game and expand the sport’s footprint and accessibility from one end of the province to the other.
